Tell me something I don't know: DIY biology and biohacking
Do-it-yourself biology is a growing biotechnological social movement in which everyone can do life science using the same methods as traditional research institutions. This may be done as a hobby or for profit, to start a business. DIY bio community has a code of ethics which is aimed to make science more transparent and save, educate the public about biotechnology, promote concept of modesty and respect humans and all living.
Hackuarium is a laboratory in Renens (http://www.hackuarium.ch) that is open to anyone who is sharing the values and willing to join DIY bio movement. “Hackuarium members want to investigate new ways of carrying out interdisciplinary research and innovation, by making their results accessible (low-cost), simple and easily reproducible (low-tech) and by promoting an open source philosophy”.
To talk about this project we invited two experts: founder of Hackuarium Luc Henry and Yann Pierson, the Hackuarium lab manager, to give a talk about this project.
